Games to watch this weekend

There’s a full slate of games in the European leagues this weekend. Here’s a rundown of some of the more intriguing and crucial fixtures.

Fulham – Arsenal

American Clint Dempsey and Fulham have had a great season and are looking to jump over Wigan for 7th place in the table while Arsenal have fallen to 5th.

Middlesbrough – Liverpool

Middlesbrough is in danger of being relegated while Liverpool have to go on a hot streak to have a chance of catching Man U for the Premier League crown.

Chelsea – Wigan Athletic

Chelsea look to continue their improved form under Guus Hiddink and have Liverpool in their sights. With a win and a Liverpool loss, Chelsea jump to 2nd in the table.

Aston Villa – Stoke City

Stoke is looking to avoid relegation but is only 2 points clear in the table. Villa are looking to rebound from a defeat against Chelsea and a win would almost seal them a Champions League spot for next season.

Real Madrid – Espanyol

Real have closed on Barcelona in the La Liga but cannot afford a slip-up against Espanyol. Last week, Barca feel to Espanyol so Madrid should be prepared and not take the match lightly.

Barcelona – Athletico Madrid

Barcelona can secure their place at the top of the table and put more pressure on Real Madrid with a victory. Barca will need a win or at least a draw as 2nd place Real Madrid is likely to win their match.

Inter – Roma

This is a crucial match for Inter and they can all but wrap-up their league title with a victory. The game will be played at the San Siro and Roma will be coming off a defeat at Arsenal in the Champions League.

AC Milan – Sampdoria

AC Milan need a hot streak  to catch Inter as they are in third place in the Serie A table. Right now, Milan are third place and only three points clear of Fiorentina for the last Champions League spot.

Bayern Munich – Werder Bremen

After a 5-0 thrashing of Sporting in the Champions League, Bayern Munich look to bring that same form to the Bundesliga. The team is in 4th place but only 4 points out of first place. The match against Bremen could be the match to turn the season around for Bayern in the Bundesliga.
