After a disappointing 0-2 loss to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League Final, speculation around Cristiano Ronaldo’s future remains. He’s been linked with a move to Real Madrid after winning all the major trophies at Manchester United. For Ronaldo, a move to Real Madrid would be a new challenge and a different style of play in La Liga. With the current circumstances, it seems almost certain that Ronaldo will be transferring to Real Madrid this season. Here’s the top reasons why Ronaldo should transfer to Real Madrid.
- He’s accomplished just about everything at Man U – Ronaldo has won the Premier League, Champinos League, Carling Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Community Shield, FA Cup, and the FIFA World Player of the Year. There’s little else for him to accomplish and he’s proven himself in England. A move to Real Madrid would provide new challenges.
- The Money – This might not be one of the best reasons but Real Madrid will be willing to shell out a ton of money and it will be hard for Man U and Ronaldo to reject the offer. His earning potential as a soccer player will probably not be any higher and he should take advantage of it while we he can.
- A chance to play in La Liga – While players like Wayne Rooney who are English dream of playing in the Premier League, others like the Portugese Ronaldo view Serie A and La Liga as the top leagues. With Barcelona winning the Champions League, La Liga can claim its closing the gap with the Premier League and as good up top. Also, La Liga is a less physical league than the EPL and will benefit someone as skillfull as Cristiano Ronaldo. Just look at how Messi as thrived and Barcelona were able to score goals at a ridiculous rate. If Ronaldo is on a talented Real Madrid side, he could easily score 25-30 goals in La Liga next season if he’s healthy.
- He could play against Lionel Messi – Many have debated who’s the better player and with a move to Real Madrid, the two players will get a chance to play against each other in La Liga. These two players have shown they have world class skill and it would be a huge stage to see Barca-Real with Messi-Ronaldo. The competition could bring both players to new heights in popularity and both should thrive with the spotlight.
