Thursday August 20, 2009 Recap
English clubs Everton and Fulham started off strong in the first legs as both won. Other notable teams that won were Ajax, Hamburg, Touluse, Lazio, Valencia, and Villareal all won. There were not too many upsets as most of the teams in the bigger leagues showed their dominance and the majority of home teams won. The winners of each leg will advance to the group stage joined by teams who are eliminated in the Champions League Play-offs.
