Reigning UEFA Champions League winners Barcelona defeated Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0 on Friday to win the UEFA Super Cup. The match was scoreless after 45 minutes and after 90 as it was headed to extra time. Neither team was able to score in the first session of extra time but Barcelona would strike in the final 5 minutes of the second extra time. The goal came from some nice passing from Lionel Messi to Pedro who put in the back of the net. It was the match winner for Pedro who helped Barcelona earn another trophy in an already incredibly successful season. The last five minutes saw Shakhtar get a few chances but unable to score as Barcelona won the 2009 UEFA Super Cup.
