The Italian Serie A continued its season Saturday, September 12, 2009 with two matches. Lazio hosted Juventus and AC Milan traveled to Livorno. Milan has struggled and needed to get a result on the road against one of the weaker Serie A teams while Juventus was also on the road. AC Milan continued to diasppoint with a 0-0 draw at Livorno while Juventus defeated Lazio 2-0. Milan looked rough at times in their pre-season schedule and doesn’t seem ready to challenge for the Scudetto this season. Juventus, on the other hand, appears ready to challenge Internazionale (Inter Milan) for the Serie A title.
Juventus is now top of the table with a perfect 3-0-0 record and conceding only 1 goal while AC Milan is 1-1-1 with a -3 goal differential. The loss to Juventus was Lazio’s first and they are still 2-1-0 and in the top half of the table while Livorno now has 2 points on 2 draws but yet to get a win.
