UEFA 2010 World Cup Qualifying Recap – Wednesday, September 9, 2009

In Group 3, the Czech Republic kept their hopes alive with a dominating 7-0 win over San Marino. The win improved their goal difference and they are now only two points behind Northern Ireland for second place. Belgium lost in Group 5 to Armenia which all but stopped their chances of qualifying as they only have 7 points and in fourth place. Sweden got a huge win to move into second place in Group 1.

England won easily at home over Croatia (5-1) to clinch their spot in South Africa next summer while Scotland’s chances came to a crashing halt and Northern Ireland lost. Most of the top teams won including Germany, Italy, and Spain. There were two 7-0 wins at the Czech Republic defeated San Marino by that score as did Israel over Luxembourg.
