The UEFA Champions League began its group stage on Tuesday with many of the favorites in action such as Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich. There were not many upsets as most of the favorites won their matches. Here’s a recap of all the matches along with video highlights for Tuesday, September 15, 2009.

All of the powerhouses in European soccer won on Tuesday including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, and Manchester United getting wins on the road. Chelsea and Wolfsburg won at home while Juventus could only manage a draw against Bordeaux. Overall, not many surprises from Tuesday’s matches.
Some of the notable goals were two from Cristiano Ronaldo for Real Madrid and two from Filippo Inzaghi for AC Milan. Ronaldo had adjusted quickly at Madrid and scored another trademark goal from a free kick. Inzaghi had both of Milan’s goal and even in his 30′s, is proving that he’s always dangerous in the Champions League.
The only match with no goals was Atletico Madrid v APOEL Nicosia which ended in a scoreless draw.
