The UEFA 2010 World Cup Qualifying continued on Saturday September 5, 2009 with several key matches. It’s coming down to the end of the qualifying and teams such as Scotland have to get results to keep their chances alive. UEFA World Cup Qualifying Recap – Saturday Septemer 5, 2009
Russia cruised past Liechtenstein, Finland topped Azerbaijan, Ukraine dominated Andorra, and Scotland beat Macedonia on Saturday. Scotland needed a win to keep their chances of qualifying realistic and they came through with a solid 2-0 home win. There were not too many surprises on Saturday. Both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland had good results as they look to stay in the qualification race. Italy won at Georgia but only on two own goals, and Turkey had a strong 4-2 win at home against Estonia. Spain dominated against Belgium as David Villa had two goals and a chance for the hat trick if he had not missed a penalty kick.
