Bolivia beats Bolivia 2-1 in CONMEBOL WCQ – Video Highlights

Even though Bolivia had no chance to qualify, they played inspired and took the lead early. Edgar Olivares scored in the 10th minute off a header to give Bolivia a 1-0 lead. The home team would not stop there as Marcelo Moreno made it 2-0 off a free kick. The shot was roughly 25-30 yards from goal and hit perfectly over the wall to the near corner as the goalkeeper was caught flat-footed. Bolivia would lead 2-0 at halftime.

Brazil picked up their play in the second half and cut the lead in half in the 69th minute. On a counterattack, the Brazilians scored to make it 2-1. Maicon sent a cross to Nilmar who headed it past the goalkeeper (69th minute) from only a few yards out. It was poor defending from the Bolivians who got caught on the counter after a free kick. With Brazil already qualified and Bolivia out, the intensity of the match was down a bit. Brazil continued to attack in the 2nd half but struggled to find the equalizer.

It would end at 2-1 for Bolivia as they would get their 4th victory for qualification.
