FIFA 2009 U-20 World Cup Recap and Video Highlights – Brazil, Germany, and UAE all win

soccer_ball21The FIFA 2009 U-20 World Cup is now in the quarterfinal stage as the last round of 16 matches finished up on Wednesday. These were Brazil v Uruguay, Germany v Nigeria, and Venezeula v United Arab Emirates. Here’s a recap of all the matches along with video highlights.

Brazil beats Uruguay 3-1 – Video Highlights

Brazil took a quick 3-0 lead after only 30 minutes and held Uruguay to only one for the entire match. The goals were Brazil were from Alex Teixera (23′, 30′), and Alan Kardec. Uruguay’s goal came from Jonathan Matías Urretaviscaya da Luz in the 35th minute. They had a chance to make 3-2 but missed a penalty 86th minute.

UAE beats Venezuela 2-1 -Video Highlights

Venezuela struck first but the United Arab Emirates scored two unanswered goals to win 2-1. Salomon Randon scored for Venezuela in the 11th minute but UAE responded in the 21st minute with a goal from Mohamed Ahmed. The game winner came from Ahmed Khalil Al-Dossary in the 83rd minute.

Germany beats Nigeria 3-2 – Video Highlights

Germany came from behind to beat Nigeria with two late goals on Wednesday night. Nigeria had the lead with a 51st minute goal from Danny Uchechi. Germany scored only a few moments later with a 51st minute goal from Bjorn Kopplin. A red card was issued to German player Tobias Kempe in the 63rd minuted as Nigeria would have a man advantage for the final 30 minutes. They scored in the 67th minute with a goal from Rabiu Ibrahim. Germany came back with a goal in the 74th minute from Mario Vrancic and the game winner from Kopplin in the 90th minute.
