The United States travel to Honduras looking to punch their ticket to South Africa. Honduras is currently third in the standings with 13 points and could clinch a spot with a win against the Americans and if Costa Rica loses. If the USA win they will clinch a spot or match the result of Costa Rica. Both teams have had good results in the last few months as the United States has won two WCQ matches in a row while Honduras is 3-1 in their last four matches.
The Americans will be without Clint Dempsey but will have most of their roster from previous matches. Their roster is a mix of MLS stars along with players on European clubs. The attack will likely be led by young stars Jozy Altidore and Charlie Davies. Both have proven they have the ability to provide a strong one-two punch in the attack with Altidore’s physicality and Davies’ speed. The team will be anchored in the midfield by Landon Donovan along with Michael Bradley, Tim Howard in goal, and Carlos Bocanegra in defense.
Honduras is a mix of domestic league, MLS, and overseas players. Amado Guevera, Toronto FC star, is the captain and always a threat in the midfield. In the attack, Carlos Costly and Carlos Pavon provide experience and a record of consistent goal scoring. Can Honduras win the match at home?
Playing on the road, no matter where, is always tough in World Cup Qualifying. The United States have had a successful year and will be ready for a tough match. Donovan is in great form and will need to provide leadership. Honduras is a tough team and easily have the ability to win the match. So, what will happen and who will win?

It should be a close match but the USA has a deeper and more talented roster. Honduras need a draw and can’t afford to conceded an early goal. Tim Howard will be the difference the United States will win a close match 2-1.
