AC Milan draws with Real Madrid 1-1 – Video Highlights

Real Madrid started the match with most of the possession and chances early. They were able to get a few shots on goal in the first ten minutes but Dida made the routine saves to keep it scoreless. The AC Milan defense was not sharp early. RM seemed likely to score first but Milan almost took the lead in the 18th minute. A defensive miscue almost cost them but goalkeeper Iker Casillas was there to prevent the chance.

Several of the chances for Real Madrid were for Benzema, who had a shot on goal in the 20th minute that just went wide. AC Milan had a great chance in the 24th minute as Pato had a shot but Casillas came out to block it and take away any angle. Real Madrid would continue to be the better team and it would pay off. Kaka took a shot from outside the box that Dida saved but the rebound fell to Benzema. The striker pounced on the rebound and beat Dida who had no help from his defending. The goal came in the 30th minute.

Milan responded well and would score in the 35th minute. Ronaldinho would convert a penalty kick to tie the match. The home side would almost score again in the 36th minute as Pato appeared to score but it was waived off because of a foul. Neither team would score in the final 10 minutes as it would remain 1-1 at halftime.

The intensity of the match continued to climb as the second half started. Both defense were tested but Milan was much stronger and not allowing Real Madrid to dominate possession. The home side were able to contain the Real Madrid attack and keep their shape in the second half. The momentum was definitely with Milan for most of the second half as Seedorf and Ronaldinho showed signs of their earlier years.

The score would remain 1-1 heading into stoppage time and a draw very likely. There would only be 2 minutes of stoppage time as it would end as a 1-1 draw on the goals from Benzema and Ronaldinho.
