FC Barcelona beats Cultural Leonesa 5-0 (7-0 on aggregate) – Recap and Video Highlights

Spain Soccer Copa del ReyFC Barcelona hosted Cultural Leonesa on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 in the second leg of the round of 32 of the Spanish Copa del Rey. Barcelona had a 2-0 lead after the first leg and are the overwhelming favorites to advance. Here’s a recap of the match along with video highlights.

Barcelona were in total control in the match as they had a lead heading into the match and outclassed Cultural Leonesa. Several starters didn’t play the match including Messi and Xavi. The first half was scoreless as Barcelona had most of the chances but unable to convert any of them. With a comfortable 2-0 lead at home, Barcelona looked well on their way to the next round with 45 minutes left to play.

In the second half, Barcelona would pick up their play and put the match out of reach. They would score two goals within a few minutes as Bojan would score both. The match completely opened up for Barcelona who also made some substitutions as Messi came into the match in the 60th minute. With a 2-0 lead, Barcelona would continue scoring as Cultural Leonesa could not keep up.

Pedro scored in the 63rd minute followed by a Messi goal in the 64th minute as Barca now led 6-0 on aggregate and 4-0 in the match. The end result was never really in doubt and Barcelona scored at will in the second half. Xavi would make it 5-0 in the 74th minute as the Cultural Leonesa defense fell apart. The match would end at 5-0 as Barcelona easily moves onto the next round of the Spanish Copa del Rey.
