Real Madrid scored an early first half goal and held on for a 1-0 win on Saturday against Racing Santander. The goal came in the 22nd minute and was scored by Gonzalo Higuain. The play that resulted in the goal was a cross sent in the box that was punched out by the goalkeeper but not cleared. It was then headed to the far post where Higuain was able to volley the header pass into an open net as the goalkeeper was out of position.
RM did not have a convincing win but its three points and that’s all that matters. They now have a UEFA Champions League match in the midweek.
