The Italian Serie A once again is being dominated by Inter Milan aka Internazionale as they hold a ten point lead through 22 matches. The closest teams are AC Milan (10 points back) and AS Roma (11 points back) but both are not within striking distance. There’s still time left for either club to make a run and close the gap with Inter Milan but it doesn’t seem likely.
Inter Milan closing in on fifth straight Scudetto
Internazionale have led almost the entire season in the Serie A and continue to be the most consistent club. It’s getting to the point where the title race has become boring and very predictable. The main reason this has happened is the inability of AC Milan, AS Roma, and Juventus to challenge Inter Milan.
The last few years have rarely been close including last season when Inter Milan held a substantial lead for most of the season and ended up winning by 10 points.
In recent weeks, this year seemed different as AC Milan had closed the gap to five points and was in good form. Unfortunately, the Rossoneri lost the Milan derby on January 24th, failed to win the next two matches, and now trails by 10 points.
While I’m not going to predict by how much Internazionale will win the Serie A title this season, I do think the title race is over. AC Milan, AS Roma, or any other club hasn’t shown the ability to make up 10 points in less than half of a season. It’s not Inter’s fault the other clubs aren’t able to match their level of consistency but it unfortuntaley makes for a boring final few months of the season.
