Germany faced Spain with a spot in the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals on the line. The winner would face the Netherlands in the final on Sunday while the loser would play Uruguay in the third place match on Saturday.

Germany 0-1 Spain Recap

Spain would reach their first World Cup final ever as they edged Germany with a second half goal.

The match would start with Spain having most of the possession and Germany content to absorb the pressure and look for chances on the counterattack. Germany would defend well in the first half to keep the match scoreless and frustrate Spain.

In the second half, the match started to open up a bit and Spain would grab the lead in the 73rd minute. Carlos Puyol would head a corner kick into the back of the net to make it 1-0 for Spain. After the goal, Germany would push forward for the equalizer but failed to find it.

Spain will now face the Netherlands in the final while Germany faces Uruguay in the third place match.
