Freddy Adu, who started in MLS but has since gone overseas, is still looking for a new club. His current club, Benfica, is willing to let him go for almost nothing (and possibly a free transfer). A few sites are now reporting that the LA Galaxy could be working on a move to bring Adu back to MLS. Adu started his career in MLS and many think a return would help to get his career back on track.
Since going overseas, Adu has never been able to get regular playing time for various clubs and his career has stalled. Maybe the expectations were too high but he’s seen by many as a disappointment. It should be noted Adu is still in his early 20′s and could develop in a possible regular on the national team in the future.
Will Adu actually move to the Galaxy? Well, it hasn’t been reported on many sites and appears just to be rumors or speculation at this point. It does seem that a move to MLS would be best for Adu as he could get regular playing time and re-start his career.
As usual, we will post more information as it becomes available but for now it’s just speculation.
I was never one of the ones who thought Adu would be a sensation in the MLS or in any other league for that matter. I just didn’t see it in him. A move back to the MLS may or may not be a good thing for him. I think it could be great for his slim chances at getting into the national team by playing for Galaxy. I also think it could be a reminder to everyone at how hyped up he was and how his career has stalled. He also seems to have a bit of an attitude issue as well and that always hinders players in the end.
Sounds like a bad move. They already have Beckham, Donovan, and Stephens to man the outside mid or wing spots, plus Buddle up front. I doubt they sign him to a DP spot, especially if it takes playing time away from Bowen.
There are plenty of MLS sides where he would make sense, but LA is a terrible fit. Go back to DC and get your career on track. You’re 21 so we’ll pretend you just came out of college and forget the last seven years if you work hard.
Good Potential..But i’d rather see Ronaldinho come to the Galaxy
Freddy is not worth a DP slot….They can still add Ronaldinho. This guy is still young and has great talent. The league needs to start keeping these kids.
