It was a tough match for Chelsea but they ultimately would score a late goal to get a 2-1 win at Ewood Park.
Blackburn would take the lead with a 21st minute goal from Benjani Mwaruwari but Chelsea responded with a 39th minute Nicolas Anelka goal.
The match would remain tied at 1-1 late into the second half with both teams getting some good chances. Blackburn had a great chance as Jason Roberts had a shot from inside the box but missed it wide. It probably should have been a goal and the miss would prove costly.
Chelsea responded with some good pressure in the next few minutes and would take the lead. A good cross from Yuri Zhirkov was headed in by Branislav Ivanovic to make give Chelsea a 2-1 lead.
Blackburn would push forward for an equalizer but didn’t have too many great chances and Chelsea were able to hold on and keep their five point lead at the top of the table.
