The SuperLiga, a competition between Mexican Primera Division and Major League Soccer, will kick off its 2010 edition this week. It has two groups of four teams with the top teams advancing to the semifinals and eventually a final. It was the first weekend of matches in the 2009 SuperLiga which includes teams from the Mexican Primera Division and Major League Soccer. Several MLS teams showed their strength with victories including the Chicago Fire and the New England Revolution. Here’s a recap of this past weekend’s matches.

Chivas USA falls 1-2 to Tigres UANL – Chivas lost to Tigres as they fell behind early and could never take the lead. After falling down 0-1 11 minutes into the match, the MLS team came back to tie in the 2nd half but coudn’t hold Tigres scoreless in the 2nd half.
